Fernanda

Dancing has been a passion of mine since my early ages but it wasn't until I moved to Canada that I had the opportunity to pursue it. While in search, I tried other Latin styles but none of them made my heart skip a beat. Some of the Brazilian dances I been in touch has helped me to understand who I am, to shape up my personality and it's an easy way to find happiness!! Forró is part of almost every university student academic social life in Brazil mine wasn't different. I fell in love with Zouk the first second I saw it for the very first time and ended up travelling the world to learn it and to meet others who shared the same love for this sensual liberating beautiful dance. Samba for all it is, has always being in my heart. The music, the roots and the happiness it exhilarates. My dream as a little girl to be in the carnival parade became reality not once but twice. My dream of learning samba de gafieira has now left the Imagination to be part of my day to day life and I can't be more greatful! All I can say now is that I am very excited to live the next chapters of my dancing life and receive all the goodness it can bring!!

Marketa

Since childhood, Marketa dreamt of becoming a professional ballet dancer. It didn't come true but she has kept her love for dancing (why else would she be dancing ballet for more than 20 years?! :). She also does contemporary dance and was a member of an Irish folk dance group for several years. Thanks to friends in Brazil, Marketa discovered Forró in 2013 but only started really learning this Brazilian partner dance at Baila Toronto after moving to Toronto in February 2017 - where she found out her new passion: Samba de Gafieira.
